Creating and Organizing Device Groups

Device groups let you organize your fleet — by location, by department, by whatever makes sense for you — and set a compliance threshold per group instead of one number for everything. Groups are available on Pro and above.

Who can create and manage groups

Creating, editing, deleting, and reassigning groups all require both a Pro-or-above plan and the right role permission on your team. If your account is on Basic, the Groups page isn't reachable at all — you'll be sent back to your dashboard. A team member scoped to specific groups can't create a brand-new group, since a new group has no scope assigned to it yet; only the account owner or a team member with access to the full fleet can create one.

What creating a group actually sets

A group needs a name — that's the only required field. You also set its compliance threshold, which can be anywhere from 50% to 100% and defaults to 90% if you don't change it.

Groups also support a filtering configuration — choosing exactly which content categories apply to a group — but that's an Enterprise-only feature. On Pro and Business plans, a group scans every category, and the group creation form tells you so directly rather than offering a choice that wouldn't do anything. If you're curious how category presets actually work once you're on Enterprise, that's covered separately.

Try it: creating a group

Interactive demo — nothing here touches your account

This mirrors the real Create Group screen, field for field, on both plan tiers — use the Pro/Business ↔ Enterprise toggle inside the Filtering Configuration section to see both. Pro and Business show the same upsell message the real form does; Enterprise's preset and custom category picker below is a real preview, not a mockup, of a feature that's actually gated — see category presets and custom overrides for what each preset and setting actually does once you're on Enterprise.

Custom category profiles are an Enterprise feature. Choose exactly which content categories get tested, per device, group, or fleet-wide. This group scans every category until you upgrade.

What deleting a group does — and doesn't do

Deleting a group never deletes or removes any device. Every device that was in the group simply becomes unassigned — its group membership is cleared, but the device itself, and all of its scan history, stays exactly where it was. There's no risk of losing device data by deleting a group you no longer need.

The device count next to each group

The count shown next to a group only includes devices that are still active — a device you've removed from your dashboard doesn't count toward any group's total, even though its old group assignment technically still exists in the background.

Downgrading doesn't delete your groups

If your account drops below Pro, your groups and their device assignments aren't deleted — they're just hidden until you're back on Pro or above. Upgrade again and everything reappears exactly as you left it.
